Concert Review: David Cook w/ Gavin DeGraw & Canaan Smith Pullo Center of Performing Arts November 5th, 2011 York, PA Gotta love last minute decisions to see David! I bought these tickets right after seeing David in State College so the seats were shitty or so I thought. This was before he released all his solo dates, so when I realized I could go to other shows and see better I decided to sell these tickets. Plus I also wanted to see Panic!, a band I had not seen live before, the day before this show. I sold these tickets to someone and while in line Friday they informed me that they payed for the tickets, but did not need them anymore. At that point, I begged my parents to go, because the tickets were free after all! I also could not see them go to waste. We literally did not book the hotel till like 6 o’clock Friday right before I went in for the Panic! show. We got to the venue a little after 6, because we had seats. I really thought the seats were going to suck, but because the venue was smaller they ended up being pretty damn good! Canaan Smith: I actually missed half of his set, because my dad had gotten lost on his way back to the hotel so I had to GPS him back. But when I did finally sit down I was nicely surprised. The kid had a good voice and I liked some of his material. He also seemed like a down-to-earth guy. Gavin DeGraw: I was happy Gavin came on first this time, because this way I could really enjoy him. I seriously love this guy! He’s so great live. His set was of course shorter this time, but nonetheless amazing! His banter was funny as hell too and even sick he sounded great. My favorite from him was his performance of ‘Soldier’. It was flawless. David Cook: I was shaking when David came on. I was lucky enough to see the setlist before hand on the light board so I was super excited to hear pretty much all of the songs I wanted. Like I said the setlist was perfect! I finally got my ‘Rapid Eye Movement’ and it really was my favorite of the night. It was surreal seeing that song live, because to me it really sums up the last two years of my life. It even made me a little emotional. I was also super happy to finally see ‘Let Me Fall For You’ & ‘Time Marches On’ live. Both were amazing and it was also great getting ‘Lie’ & ‘Bar-Ba-Sol’ back! The highlight of the night had to be ‘Here I Go Again’ though. It was really amazing that he ended up throwing that in. I loved it! I laughed through most of it, however because he said something before it like ‘This is gonna be really cheesy’. His banter was great as always, but he seemed weird, I guess. I’m pretty sure he was drunk. ;) Overall, I really loved our seats, because for once I was able to take in the whole stage. I was able to really take in David and the band, and experience seeing him in all whole new light. David never fails to put on anything, but a perfect show. 8 notes
